What about it, ladies – do you have bras whose straps just dig into your shoulders, no matter how much you adjust? Sick of having to wear pads under your bra straps? Bra straps digging into your shoulders is a huge problem – it’s one of the most common things that women complain about when it comes to bras. It can be even more of an issue for full-busted women whose shoulder straps are carrying more weight; some women have even experienced deformation in their shoulders because of straps digging in, day-in, day-out, for years! Comfort strap bras can relieve this problem – time to find out about woman’s new best friend!

What is a Comfort Strap Bra?
A comfort strap bra is a type of bra whose straps are designed specifically to be more comfortable to wear. Comfort strap bras tend to have wider straps. Sometimes, the straps are padded. Because the weight is distributed over a wider area, the straps are less inclined to “dig in” – and padding helps make things more comfortable when the wider straps just aren’t enough. Comfort strap bras are designed to provide a softer, lighter feel on the shoulders.

Bra Fit Matters
It’s important to note that if your straps are digging into your shoulders and seem to be carrying the weight of your breasts, your bra probably isn’t fitted properly. The band of the bra – the part that goes around your chest and snaps in the back – should provide 80% to 90% of the support of the bra. If your band isn’t providing enough support, your breasts will tug on your bra straps too much, and it’ll cause the straps to dig in. To reduce pressure on your bra straps, make sure you’re wearing the correct bra size. Follow our instructions on Getting Measured for a Bra to be sure you’re shopping for the right bra size.

The most common fit issue for women who find that their bra straps are pulling against their shoulders is that the band size is too large, and the cup size is too small. Your bra band should lie flat and straight against your back, under your shoulder blades, and you should only be able to fit one or two fingers under it. If your bra band rides up, it’s probably too big, and that’s why your bra straps are digging into your shoulders.
