Friday Q&A: Swimsuit Edition

20130524-friday-faq-swimsuit-edition

Memorial Day Weekend is here, and for most of us, it signals the official start of swim season! Finding the right swimsuit is something that many of us struggle with – so if you’ve got swimwear-related questions, ladies, bring them on! In the meantime, today’s Friday Q&A is the Swimsuit Edition!

Question from Kelly M:

What style of swimsuit is the one that is a one piece with a collar that zips in the front?

I had a swimsuit a couple of years back and would like another like it but can’t find the style. It had a zipper from the stomach up to the chin. The back was sort of a racer back style.

Answer:
You’re probably having a hard time finding a similar style because none of our designers have released a zipper swimsuit design in the past few years. In 2010/2011, swimsuit design started to shift more toward hardware accents – like metal rings, or metal pieces to create gathers.

That being said, MiracleSuit does still offer a few zippered styles that tend to be sport-oriented and geared toward the daily swimmer:

We’ve also got a closeout swimsuit available in limited sizes with a zip design: Anita Rosa Faia Milena One Piece Halter Swimsuit 7771.

If you’re just looking for the vertical separation, there are some other great styles that might work for you. The MagicSuit Heather Tie Front Tank One Piece Style 464460 features a corset-like tie down that extends down the front of the swimsuit, with ruching that creates a very flattering accent. This style elongates the torso, minimizes bumps and bulges and can create a similar effect to the zip style you miss. Browse our complete one piece collection for other styles that offer the look you want, sans zipper.

Question from April:

What color of swimsuit makes ur tan really stick out and make u look tanner?

im already pretty tan.. but im thinking about getting a new swimsuit tht is just a solid color.. just wondering what really would go good with a tan.

Answer:
If you’re really tan, you can have a ton of fun with your swimsuit colors! The colors that work best to highlight a great tan are neon colors, and light colors.

If you’re looking for a simple solid color, something like this B. Swim Teekee Damsel Demi Swimsuit Top Style U31 really pops against a good tan. The light color plays beautifully against sun-kissed skin and really stands out.

If you don’t quite want to go neon, a more sedate color that looks good with a tan is the B. Swim Sheshell Hollywood Halter Swimsuit Top Style U48. This pale pink is a nice contrast to tanned skin, but it doesn’t quite stand out the way a neon does.

Finally, if you’ve got a great tan going, you can’t go wrong with something like the Tara Grinna Marvel Slider Halter Swimsuit Top Style ML-114. A bright yellow like this would positively glow against sun-browned skin; it’s a nice compromise between the more sedate pink, and the bright neons – which for some people can be somewhat headache-inducing.

In short, you can’t go wrong with a light, bright color!

Have any other swimsuit questions, ladies? With Memorial Day weekend finally here, the swim season has officially arrived – time to get that hot new swimsuit you’ve been putting off buying!
