Tips for Looking Great This Holiday Season: Part 1

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away? The busy holiday season is nearly upon us, and that means scrutiny from that aunt who never seems to have anything nice to say, or that cute guy you were hoping to impress at the office party this year! Fortunately, we’ve got the inside scoop for you; looking great for the holidays has never been so easy! Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s holiday trends and tips for looking your best. Tomorrow we’re going to look at some great foundation pieces to help you pull it all off!

Dress to Impress: Holiday Clothing Trends
This season, color is IN for the holidays! Zola Keller says that big, bright and gold are the watchwords of fashion for this holiday season! Glitz, bold statement pieces and above-the-knee dresses are in for this year’s holiday parties.

If bold and gold aren’t your style, try a toned-down version of adding color. Splash some color into your holiday look in subtle ways, with a colorful pair of shoes, bright accessories like a dramatic scarf, or even a colorful cardigan. Highlight your own style with this year’s colorful holiday trend to look and feel your best!

In terms of structure, solid fabrics with straight lines are in – pick up some straight-line slacks or a simple, beautiful dress for your holiday finest. For accessories, go with some large, impressive earrings; skip the necklace for a sophisticated and sexy bare décolleté.

Take Care of Your Skin!
As cold weather takes over, it’s time to take care of our skin! Winter skin can be dry, dull, flakey or even crack and bleed in severe cases. Moisturize and exfoliate – diligently – to keep your skin looking brilliant. It also helps to stay hydrated; if you’re drinking enough water, your skin stays naturally smooth, soft, and supple because you’re getting moisturized from the inside out.

Mani and Makeup to Look Your Best
A manicure makes a huge difference in the holiday season. Think about how many people you’ll be shaking hands with, how many wine or eggnog glasses you’ll be holding, or how many dishes you’ll be passing around! Plus, a good manicure can help keep your hands looking smooth and beautiful, and fight winter weather dryness.

Go simple with your makeup this year – a good primer, foundation, concealer (if needed) and blush and bronzer form your base. Use a good mascara or consider falsies to really bring out your lashes and highlight your eyes. And try going lighter with your eyeliner this year! Sapphire or gold can really bring out your eyes, while the more dramatic black and brown are out for the season. Skip the powder over the top – use an oil-absorbing sheet to blot away shine and keep your skin looking brilliant in pics or in person!

Don’t forget your smile! Whitening strips can help you keep your smile looking great for pictures and for your guests or fellow party-goers. You can also carry a small tube of toothpaste in your bag for quick touch-ups throughout the day or night. Choose a long-lasting lipstick with clear gloss sealant to keep the color looking bright, and keep your lips looking lush and full.
