5k Sports Bra Review: Le Mystere Energie Sport Bra

This week, I trained for my 5k using the Le Mystere Energie Sport Bra 320. I wore it for 3 running workouts for around 30 minutes each day, walking at around 3.5 to 4 miles per hour and running at around 5.5 to 6 miles per hour. Today, I’m going to tell you how the bra did, and at the end of my sports bra tests, I’ll tell you how it stacked up against the other sports bras!

The Le Mystere Energie Sport Bra 320: First Impressions
To be completely honest, I’ve had this sports bra for several months so I’ve had plenty of time to form first impressions. My initial thoughts about this bra are of shortcomings, unfortunately. The bra cups don’t fit brilliantly; they seem to want to distribute my breast tissue more to the right instead of straight ahead, giving me a slightly flattened silhouette. It fits kind of like a minimizer bra. I also think this bra runs slightly large, as the cups gap at the top and I feel like one cup size smaller might have been perfect.

Otherwise, it’s comfortable enough. The band is wide and snug, which makes me feel secure when I’m wearing it. If I wear it all day, I sometimes get a little digging from the underwire, but not as much as some of my other bras – in all, it’s pretty comfortable. I ordered it in heather gray and it’s a sort of jersey-like material; it doesn’t necessarily feel very breathable or moisture-wicking, but it’s a great material if you’re looking for a warm bra on a cool fall day.

The bra straps are extremely noteworthy. Most adjustable bra straps simply feature a slide adjustment so you can take up the slack as needed by sliding the adjuster. The straps on this bra actually have little pockets where you hook the strap to set the right adjustment, giving you a huge range of adjustment possibilities that will NOT slip. You hook it into place, similar to a hook and eye but with a cloth pocket instead of an eye, and it stays put.

How Does it Hold Up to Running?
In terms of support while running, the Le Mystere Energie Sport Bra 320 actually does ok. With the gapping at the top of the cup and the style of the bra, I was kind of thinking it might not provide enough support. When running, though, I stay in place with little to no bouncing. I don’t feel completely constrained and squashed, so I’m not sure if I’d trust this sport bra with more vigorous activity – but for running it worked out surprisingly well. The bra material feels more absorbent than moisture-wicking, but I didn’t feel like it was a bunch of wet material against my skin, so it dealt with sweat better than I expected.

Overall: it did better than expected while running. I can recommend it, even if you’re a larger size like my 40F in this bra. It may not feel like it can stand up to the forces involved, but it does!
